SymbolSupport is an intuitive utility application designed for the iPad that enhances the process of integrating symbols into text. As users type, the app automatically adds relevant symbols above the text, streamlining communication for individuals who benefit from visual aids. Additionally, users can effortlessly import text from existing documents; upon pasting, symbols are applied instantly, further facilitating comprehension.

The app features high-quality text-to-speech capabilities, complete with word-by-word highlighting, which proves beneficial for students navigating class assignments. It includes symbols from the Slater Literacy Support Pictures™ as well as from Attainment’s Image Library, providing a diverse array of visual supports. Users also have convenient access to their camera roll and a built-in internet image search for additional imagery.

Editing tools within SymbolSupport are user-friendly, allowing for easy modifications such as changing auto-assigned symbols to alternate imagery and removing unnecessary symbols to declutter the visual display. The primary goal of SymbolSupport is to create symbolized text efficiently and effectively.

In terms of document sharing, SymbolSupport facilitates seamless distribution via AirDrop, email, or any cloud storage configured on the iPad. Files can be shared as PDFs for student portfolios or directly to parents. Furthermore, documents can be transmitted as SymbolSupport files, which are accessible through both the SymbolSupport and SymbolSupport Lite applications.

For those seeking a cost-effective solution, SymbolSupport Lite is a free alternative that can receive, read aloud, and print documents created with the main app. However, it is important to note that SymbolSupport Lite does not offer functionalities for creating or editing documents.
